Frequently Asked Questions

answers to our most frequently asked questions

This article will consist of answers to our most frequently asked questions. For other common questions, you will likely find the answers here. You’ll also be able to learn more about our processes by reading our handbook

For any questions that you may still have or questions that are more specific to your unique situation, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us for more information!

  1. How detailed does my documentation have to be to work with NerdCloud?

Rest assured that we work with projects of all sorts. We are able to work with projects with no documentation at all (such as early-stage projects) as well as projects with extensive legacy documentation. We are flexible and adapt to your documentation level.

In cases where you don’t have any documentation, we create the documentation piece by piece for ourselves, and don’t count that process as billable hours.

If you’re still concerned about the extent of your documentation and would like to have at least some ready for us to start working with you, the best way to go about it is to just start.

Often teams wait for a big project or the right time to start their documentation, but the best way to create documentation is by identifying a service or microservice that you need help with, and then use that as your starting point.

  1. How would NerdCloud like my business to describe tasks?

Our job is to adapt to the description style of your internal tasks as well as how your internal team works. If you’ve been able to publish something on the web, then you are most certainly able to describe tasks to the level that we need!

What we really need from you are the basics: what, why, and what outcome you expect. That’s more than good enough to start with.

Don’t worry too much about how we need you to describe tasks. The most important thing is that we can communicate at all stages of working together so that we can adapt to the way your business runs and get the job done for you.

  1. Does NerdCloud use JIRA/DevOps?

We integrate our platform with whatever your project management tool is. This includes JIRA and DevOps. You can easily label (tag or assign) tasks to us in the same way that you assign tasks to your internal team during the spring planning (or similar).

These tasks will automatically sync to our platform and their statuses will be updated (incl. estimates, stage) to your tool in real-time.

  1. Will working with NerdCloud disrupt my business’ workflow?

Outsourcing can often come with worries about clashing work cultures and the headaches of trying to communicate with a separate entity. One of the best things about working with NerdCloud is how seamless the process is. We adapt to your team’s unique workflow so that all processes and tools used remain the same.

You don’t have to worry about miscommunication, different work standards, SOPS, or work culture with NerdCloud. We plug into your existing way of working and do things your way, so that you never have to worry about the struggles that you’d have with traditional outsourcing.

Your team won’t notice we’re there in terms of disruption, but your business will definitely notice the excellent quality of work we deliver.

  1. How does NerdCloud ensure quality?

We only have senior developers here at NerdCloud. They have a minimum of 5 years' experience and must undergo our partners' eight-step recruitment process; that includes technology, quality assurance, information security, and efficiency tests. We also review each developers’ code quality and ensure they know our standards before they can work with customers.

Additionally, NerdCloud has high code quality standards and follows industry best practices guidelines. We perform rigorous functional testing throughout our development process, as well as having our Technical PM conduct unit and automated testing.

Depending on the unique needs of each project, we modify our basic QA process: Localhost QA, Internal QA, Development environment QA, Staging environment QA, Deploy testing QA. We also often use automatic testing on top of manual testing.

Depending on the project size, the specific methodologies used differ. Here at NerdCloud for example, we use a two-staged QA process: internal QA by our team and external QA by the client.
